 Blood on the Dance Floor was a hit record for Michael Jackson in 1997. It became a #1 hit for Jackson in the UK. The song did not appear again when The Essential Michael Jackson was released. According to the booklet of Blood on the Dance Floor: HIStory in the Mix, the title song is dedicated to Sir Elton John.
In 2007, it was revealed that the song debuted at #2 on the United World Chart, where it remained for 2 weeks. This was only revealed in 2007 due to the fact that the United World Chart had not been established in 1997 and only now, Media Traffic (the company that publishes the chart) is calculating charts years before the United World Chart had originally been made.
